As a 33 year fitness fanatic and a former runner, my love of teaching and fitness naturally led me to a career in personal training. Once I became certified, I knew that I had to open my own fitness center working exclusively with women because nobody understands a woman better than another woman.

I have made it my mission to help women of ALL shapes and sizes experience first-hand how exercise and healthy nutrition can transform not only your body but your mind as well.  I will guide you as you make simple, small changes to your lifestyle and you will feel alive, healthy and vibrant again!

I am a certified personal trainer through the American Council on Exercise, a certified MenoFitness trainer, a Balance Progressions Specialist, CPR and AED certified through the American Heart Association, fully insured, and I welcome real women of all shapes and sizes who are ready to commit to getting healthy!

I strongly believe that taking care your body also takes care of your mind. Being healthy and fit enriches not only your life but the lives of those around you. I am passionate about running, meditation, and yoga and thrilled to work with women in the empowering environment here at Wise Women Fitness.

In the past I have been a competitive triathlete and duathlete, qualifying and competing at the world level. In 2006 I decided to take up long distance running. To date, I’ve run 14 marathons with a personal best of 2:59:40 in the Richmond Marathon in 2007. I’ve run the Boston Marathon 7 times with a 6th place age group finish in 2013. I still love running, but have found these days that incorporating yoga and meditation into my regime does wonders to help me deal with my ever-changing body and mind as I head into my 50s.

A former project manager for a healthcare company, I decided to leave the corporate life to open a small business several years ago.  My past project experience, success running a small business and my love for fitness makes my position at Wise Women Fitness a great fit for me. I am blessed to be supported by my wonderful husband and two amazing boys as I continue to grow, explore and add a new chapter to my life.  I look forward to serving our clients with compassion and care and enthusiastically supporting them as they work towards their fitness goals.

I was born and raised in Illinois and have been a lifelong athlete now enjoying everything from marathon training to adventure runs while living in the sunshine state.

My passion for athletics led me to pursue a degree in Exercise Science from Illinois State University in 1990 and immediately begin my fitness career in Florida.

I’ve worked in a variety of settings throughout my years in the fitness industry including Safety Harbour Spa and Harbor Island Athletic Club before starting my family when I began to concentrate on my personal training business.  My focus and connection to my female clients deepened as I experienced pregnancy and motherhood and continues as we move through the next chapter.

My husband and I are blessed to have 2 children who have also embraced active lifestyles.  Our daughter will swim for the Washington and Lee Generals next year as our son continues to lead the Jesuit Tigers on the football field.

I believe in helping my clients change by challenging them with a personalized approach to their fitness program.  I look forward to helping you achieve your goals mindfully and respectfully.

Annalise Lamia

Annalise is a certified personal trainer through the National Strength and Conditioning Association with a degree in biology and exercise science.  She believes that health is wealth and her mission is to empower others to discover how great the human body is designed to feel.

Born and raised in New York, Annalise began her fitness lifestyle as a cardio addict and rugby player during her first year of college.  After an injury she began to learn more about the body and training and decided to pursue exercise science. She studied at the Swedish Institute College of Health Sciences in NYC and began working at Lifetime Fitness.

A desire for a fresh start, lifestyle change and warmer weather caused her to move to Tampa, Florida at the end of 2014 where she currently does personal training primarily for injury prevention, strength gains and weight loss clients. When she’s not training clients, she can be found making specialty coffee drinks, listening to live music, or training for powerlifting and strongwoman competitions.

My healthier life began over 26 years ago, after entering the Air Force in 1992. I was very fortunate to have a mentor who helped me to realize my potential and what could be achieved with guidance, support and encouragement. The Certified Personal Trainer class at The Cooper Institute solidified my resolve to involve myself with organizations and people who wanted to help others do the same. I decided I also wanted to expand my reach by becoming an AFAA Group Exercise Instructor. This allowed me to see clients 1 on 1, but also offer classes for those who enjoyed the group experience.

After earning a Masters in Sports Admin and Management and the Exercise Physiologist Certification from ACSM, I partnered with DOD to ensure AF members were mission ready. I soon realized that it was becoming harder to focus on me. I worked too much, ate lousy, worried about my daughter, spread myself thin volunteering, organizing projects, and managing the household and then stressed over it all. I needed to take a step back.

Luckily, timing was perfect and a year after my son was born, I rejoined the workforce, but this time I modified my schedule and took time out each day for me. It worked! I was happier and in turn, life was happier. Now that doesn’t mean that everyday is perfect, but I find that most days are AWESOME. I guess what I’m trying to convey is, I understand because I have been there. Everyday is a new day and if you didn’t make the most out of yesterday, then today is YOUR day.

I have seen the benefits of exercise, eating well and stress reducing methods first hand.  I want to pass what I have learned on to help others. You and I will work together to develop a fun but functional program that will improve your quality of life. I also have specialized experience in Pre-Post natal, active older adult, post physical therapy programming, and Parkinson’s exercise.

Wherever you are on this ride called life, remember one thing, you’ve only got one shot at it. Do good for others each day, but remember to do something good for yourself as well.
