My Story: As a 35-year fitness fanatic and a former runner, my love of teaching and fitness naturally led me to a career in personal training and studio ownership. Wise Women Fitness is my “WHY”.

After 25+ years in the corporate world, the last 15 of those as a paralegal, I woke up one day and realized that I felt a huge void in my life and the work I was doing did not feed my soul. I knew that I was meant to do something bigger and more meaningful, but what? I had always dreamed of being a teacher, but responsibility and bills led me to the corporate world. Fitness continued to be the one constant in my life since discovering aerobics and running in the ’80s. Deleted: After much soul-searching and self-reflection, I had an epiphany that I could teach others and share my love of health and fitness. Eureka! I would become a certified personal trainer! From the very first client session, I knew that I had found my calling. Having a brick and mortar storefront was a seamless transition just 18 months after that first client session. This process reinforced that I was on the chosen path to my “why”. Choosing to work exclusively with women brings me tremendous satisfaction. As women, we crave connections because we feel that nobody understands a woman better than another woman. Having an all-women studio allows me and my staff to facilitate in cultivating those very connections we crave.

Being in service to others, sharing my enthusiasm, optimism, and support with others brings me great joy and personal fulfillment, and I have never once looked back on my corporate life.

I have made it my mission to help women of ALL shapes and sizes experience first-hand how exercise and healthy nutrition can transform not only your body but your mind as well. I will guide you as you make simple, small changes to your lifestyle and you will feel alive, healthy, and vibrant again!

I hold a personal trainer certification through the American Council on Exercise, I am a certified Breast Cancer Exercise Specialist through the Pink Ribbon Program, a certified MenoFitness trainer, a Balance Progressions Specialist, and CPR/AED certified through the American Heart Association. We are a fully insured facility and welcome real women of all shapes and sizes who are ready to commit to getting healthy!

My healthier life began over 26 years ago, after entering the Air Force in 1992. I was very fortunate to have a mentor who helped me to realize my potential and what could be achieved with guidance, support, and encouragement. The Certified Personal Trainer class at The Cooper Institute solidified my resolve to involve myself with organizations and people who wanted to help others do the same. I decided I also wanted to expand my reach by becoming an AFAA Group Exercise Instructor. This allowed me to see clients 1 on 1, but also offer classes for those who enjoyed the group experience. After earning a Masters in Sports Admin and Management and the Exercise Physiologist Certification from ACSM, I partnered with DOD to ensure AF members were mission ready. I soon realized that it was becoming harder to focus on me. I worked too much, ate lousy, worried about my daughter, spread myself thin volunteering, organizing projects, and managing the household, and then stressed over it all. I needed to take a step back. Luckily, the timing was perfect and a year after my son was born, I rejoined the workforce, but this time I modified my schedule and took time out each day for me. It worked! I was happier and in turn, life was happier. Now that doesn’t mean that every day is perfect, but I find that most days are AWESOME. I guess what I’m trying to convey is, I understand because I have been there. Every day is a new day and if you didn’t make the most out of yesterday, then today is YOUR day. I have seen the benefits of exercise, eating well, and stress-reducing methods first hand. I want to pass what I have learned to help others. You and I will work together to develop a fun but functional program that will improve your quality of life. I also have specialized experience in Pre-Post natal, active older adult, post-physical therapy programming, and Parkinson’s exercise. Wherever you are on this ride called life, remember one thing, you’ve only got one shot at it. Do good for others each day, but remember to do something good for yourself as well.

I was always very active and competitive as a young adult. After being diagnosed with Rheumatoid Arthritis in my early 20’s this experience motivated me to become healthier, stronger, as well as more educated on how to manage the disease. I decided to pursue a career as a personal trainer so I could inspire and help others overcome their limitations in order to achieve their personal best. It has given me a purpose that many people will never have the chance to experience professionally. My years of training and being health conscious have shown me you must be consistent and dedicated in the pursuit of your personal goals. There is no quick fix or magic pill. Performing the correct exercises with effective workout programs and a healthy diet will allow you to get into great physical condition no matter what your age or current fitness level may be. I’m very passionate about what I do and would love the opportunity to help new clients as they start on their fitness journey. I will be dedicated to showing you how to look and feel your best and we will have an enjoyable experience getting there. It’s never too late for a new beginning in your life.

The barrier of entry is never too high! My training focuses on building physical and mental strength through individualized and practical personal training. My interest in fitness started young while working part-time in a gym. Later I became a police officer, and it was obvious that physical health was an integral part in keeping an officer safe in the field of duty, not only physically but also mentally. I was offered the opportunity to run the fitness program at the Vermont Police Academy, and I gladly accepted. During this time my passion for fitness continued to grow and influenced me to become a certified personal trainer. Sharing the importance of physical health with new officers was a very rewarding time in my police career. During my years of working as a personal trainer and coach, I realized that I love working specifically with women! Sharing their fitness journey and seeing them gain the confidence to step into a gym and begin lifting weights, all without fear of judgment, is inspiring. I have an extensive background in training women of all ages and fitness levels, and we will work together as a team to help you reach your health and fitness goals.
